The 3rd General Assembly (GA) of the MULTICARE project took place on 3-4 April 2025 in Berlin, Germany, bringing together over 40 consortium members from across Europe for two days of in-depth updates, discussion, and planning. Hosted by Priedemann, the meeting focused on technical progress, integration across work packages (WPs), and the next steps for piloting, testing, and engagement.

Reviewing Project Progress
The first day opened with welcome speeches from Mauro Overend (TU Delft) and hosts from Priedemann, followed by updates from the project coordination team. Key developments included changes to demonstration sites and leadership roles, as well as preparation for the upcoming M18 review. Emphasis was placed on ensuring timely partner input, particularly in relation to reporting and the completion of WP deliverables.
Thematic work sessions followed, covering everything from multi-hazard resilience and real-time monitoring systems to low-carbon building modules, spatial decision-making tools, and the integration of IoT sensors. Partners discussed technical challenges, such as tailoring design frameworks to specific demonstrator contexts, connecting building and neighbourhood-level assessments, and planning data acquisition strategies.

Demonstrator Site Updates
Detailed updates were provided for each of the three demonstration sites:
>Acerra (Italy): Structural investigations have been completed and thermal sensor installation is scheduled. The timber exoskeleton design is pending final seismic analysis.
>Amsterdam (Netherlands): A new building site has been selected to align with project timelines, and stakeholder negotiations are ongoing.
>Bucharest (Romania): A proposal to integrate an LVL exoskeleton into the existing structure has been developed, alongside an energy audit showing a potential 30% reduction in heating load.
Each site presented its technical and administrative progress, as well as challenges related to costs, permitting, and coordination. Strong emphasis was placed on the execution phase, with suggestions to involve contractors more closely to ensure the practical feasibility of design proposals.
Communication, Capacity Building, and IP Strategy
On day two, the focus shifted to WP22 (Feedback from Demonstrators) and WP23 (Impact Assessment), where partners presented tools for decision-making, data visualisation, and user feedback integration. Partners discussed how to better link BIM and parametric models and improve clarity around task responsibilities.
WP24 and WP25 sessions addressed communication, training materials, and exploitation strategies. The communication team (ASM) introduced the “Multicare Journey” campaign which will feature partners’ snapshots, videos, and updates personalising project storytelling.
On exploitation and IP management, RINA Consulting outlined the initial framework and was invited to simplify and clarify the approach, ensuring equitable benefit-sharing among partners, particularly for Key Exploitable Results (KERs) with commercial potential.

Looking Ahead
The next General Assembly is scheduled for October 2025 in Trento, Italy. Until then, partners are expected to continue refining designs, completing installations, collecting data, and enhancing the project’s public engagement.
