MULTICARE at Sustainable Places 2025: Building Resilience and Smart Renovation for a Sustainable Future

From 8–10 October 2025, the MULTICARE project took part in the Sustainable Places Conference in Milan, Italy — one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to innovation and sustainability in the built environment.

MULTICARE at Sustainable Places 2025 in Milan

Hosted by R2M Solution and the Comune di Milano, this 13th edition gathered more than 150 EU-funded projects, hundreds of experts and industry representatives to exchange knowledge, present results and create new partnerships for a greener Europe. The agenda included five thematic tracks, 29 clustering workshops and several paper sessions — all focused on accelerating the transition toward climate resilience and energy efficiency.

MULTICARE in Three Key Workshops

Represented by ASM Research Solutions Strategy, MULTICARE actively contributed to three workshops that reflect the project’s core mission — enhancing resilience, promoting innovation and supporting smart renovation across Europe’s buildings and cities.

Resilience Workshop — “From risk to resilience: Multi-hazard strategies for communities to the built environment”

Co-organised with projects such as MULTICLIMACT, CLIMRES and RETIME, this session explored how digital twins, AI-driven modelling and Living Lab frameworks can improve preparedness and adaptation to multi-hazard events. MULTICARE shared its approach to integrated resilience and user-centred design for safer communities.

Smart Readiness in Action

As part of the Smart Readiness Indicator cluster, MULTICARE demonstrated how its plug-and-play façade and retrofit systems integrate with digital tools to enhance energy efficiency and occupant comfort. The session emphasised the importance of SRI testing and scalable solutions for the EU building stock.

Scaling Impact — Accelerating Market Uptake of EU-funded Innovations

In this collaborative workshop, MULTICARE joined cross-sectoral discussions on bridging the gap between innovation and market adoption. The project presented its Living Labs approach as a key driver for user validation, replication and stakeholder engagement.

Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange

The Sustainable Places Conference provided an excellent platform for dialogue among researchers, policymakers and industry leaders. MULTICARE showcased contributions to multi-hazard resilience, sustainable construction and energy-efficient renovation, strengthening cooperation with initiatives aligned with Built4People and Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities partnerships.
